CURRENTLY October (with a TREAT)

Happy October friends! I'm linking up with Farley to share how the month is starting out. Did you read last month's post? Let me tell ya... October is off to a much better start.
Listening to my husband playing video games. If I'm playing on my computer, he's usually playing his PS4.

Loving that October is finally here!! Since school started, my teammate has been saying that by the end of October my kiddos would be better. I'm actually seeing the possibilities now! It's only taken 8 weeks, but I'm starting to feel like my kids are actually learning things. It's such a change from the beginning of the year. There's a lot more smiles, laughs, and learning going on.

Thinking about the big mess I left in my classroom. It was 5:00 P.M. on a Friday and I was nowhere near being finished with my to-do list, so I left. Ugh... That means I need to go back and clean it up before Monday.
Wanting to shop for new boots. I wear mine to death every fall/winter. I can't say that it gets really cold around here, but it's cool enough to wear boots for a little while. Unfortunately, finding the right boots is quite a task. I have the hardest time finding shoes that fit because I wear a 5.5. Yes, my feet are so small that I can trade shoes with some first graders.

Needing to find books for the fairy tale unit my teammate came up with. She had some fun ideas and we're trying to gather various versions of some well-known fairy tales.

TRICK OR TREAT! I have a treat for you! A spooky ten frame work mat. We're learning to add and recognize doubles. We'll be using erasers and cute pumpkins that I found at the Target dollar spot as counters. Yeay! Just click on the picture to snag the FREEBIE.

Well, friends I'll see you tomorrow for another fun linky party. Be sure to come back and see what's on sale.

  1. I have small feet too and yes when it's gym class I have been known to lend my own gym shoes or trainers to children as some of them have feet my size - it means I have to have unisex trainers - and last year I did indeed end up lending my own boots to a girl so she could go outside at playtime as her footwear was not suitable! I love your treat - I have a Halloween one to share too that you might like as well as for your fairytale unit a freebie Jack and the Beanstalk maths sequencing game on TpT

  2. Thanks for the freebie. Your teammate is right by the end of October the kids have usually settled into a routine. At least that's what I keep telling myself. I'm loving October as well. Good luck finding some boots!

  3. Check out Fractured Fairy Tales from the Rocky and Bullwinkle show. I know they have the video segments and I bought the book for my fairy tale unit when I taught middle school. I want shoes too. I'm trying to convince hubby a pair of Tieks in bright blue are necessary.

  4. Maybe you could find some gently used books on Ebay or Half.com. I have a whole box of them from when I did this same unit in grade 4 several years ago. I used them again the year I was a long term sub in grade 2 and the kids loved the different Cinderella stories. Good luck with your book search!

  5. Maybe you could check out some of these books from the library. There are over 200 Cinderella-type stories from cultures around the world. My favorites include Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters (set in Africa), Sootface (Native American) and Cinder Elly (set in the inner city). Good luck with your teaching unit. :) Carol's Teaching Garden
